Start your day with a champagne brunch snorkel cruise. Make your stop in Aruba a memorable one by sailing aboard a trimaran and excellent snorkeling on the reef.
From your Aruba cruise port, you'll need to take a quick 15-minute taxi ride to the small pier where your trimaran is docked. There you'll board the comfortable 41-foot vessel that holds 45 passengers but there will have no more than 36 aboard so you have plenty of space and personal attention. Your friendly staff will get your adventure started with mimosas as the captain gets underway.
As you sail to the first snorkel location brunch will start to be passed around and will continue throughout the trip. You'll be served a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese, a tuna salad wrap, muffins, turkey sandwiches, and a fruit stick. There's an open bar for your entire cruise, but it's suggested that you wait until after you snorkel to have an alcoholic beverage. All snorkel and safety equipment is included and if you are new to snorkeling the staff is happy to assist. For those who prefer to stay on the boat, there is a trampoline deck on the bow where you can relax and watch the world go by. Provided the weather cooperates you'll snorkel for about 45 minutes at each location.
The first snorkel site is typically at the Antilla Ship Wreck. When you arrive at the location, the crew will pass out the snorkeling gear, show you how to use it, and then assist you into the water to explore on your own but under their watchful eye. Please note that all guests must know how to swim and be very comfortable in the water. Snorkeling in deep water and guests will NOT be able to touch the bottom. This shipwreck is one of the largest in the area and is sought out by many snorkelers and divers. Germany built this ship to transport goods across the Pacific to the Caribbean islands and was launched before the start of WWII. After the invasion of Norway and Denmark by the Germans, the Netherlands was worried about being invaded as well. So they confined the German crew to the ship. They were to be taken off the following morning and before that could happen, the crew scuttled the ship. It sank after being flooded and burned. Now it's home to beautiful coral, sea sponges, lobster, and a variety of marine life.
Your second site is Boca Catalina Bay, a small bay with shallow calm waters. Here you'll snorkel along the coral reef and, if the seas are calm, you may see fish like French grunt, angelfish, bluefin trevally, and Bermuda chub. There is hard and soft (gorgonian) coral, sponges, and sea fans making up the reef. As always, guests should not touch any of the marine life.
Sail back with a beverage in hand and enjoy the coastline. At the end of your day, you'll be returned to the pier where you can catch a taxi back to your Aruba cruise dock or continue exploring the area at your expense.
