Drive your own automatic ATV on various terrains including two beaches and through the countryside. You'll also have the chance to shop for unique souvenirs and enjoy some refreshments.
Start this great Puerto Plata Shore Excursion by meeting with your friendly guide just outside your Taino Bay cruise ship pier. Climb aboard the comfortable transportation for a short, 15-minute, ride to the ATV Excursion base. The base is located at a private local ranch. The ranch is covered with lush, tropical vegetation, fun trails, and even a few small streams so dress to get dirty and wet just in case!
Once you arrive, you will be matched up with a Honda 420cc 4X4 ATV. The guides will first briefly go over the instructions. Don't worry these ATVs are very easy to drive. In fact, beginners are welcome and there's no license required to drive an ATV on this Shore Excursion. Also, the price is the same for one, or two riders so great for couples, since the excursion price is per ATV.
As soon as you're on your ATV, strap on your helmet (mandatory) because it's time to follow the guide through the ranch, and pass small modest houses and farms. Take in the views and ride along the countryside for about 15 minutes to Teco's Beach. Here you will be able to take a quick dip in the ocean if you would like or enjoy the view and a refreshment. The guide will have both bottled water and sodas.
Next, you'll head to another ranch where you'll have about 15 minutes to relax and shop if you so choose to. There are cigars, cacao, and coffee on sale. You'll have the chance to taste a few of them as well before deciding if you want to purchase any.
Then it will be time to make an optional stop at Martin's gift shop where guests can see locally handcrafted stones from the Dominican mines and local clothing styles. All are available for purchase, if you'd like.
Your Puerto Plata ATV shore excursion ends with a 20-minute drive back to the ATV Excursion base and then your guide will take you back to your Taino Bay / Puerto Plata cruise ship terminal a 15-minute ride away. The total ATV riding time is approximately 2 hours.
