You'll meet your friendly crew outside your Taino Bay cruise ship port and board the comfortable transportation with air conditioning, cold bottled water, music, and fast complimentary WiFi. Wait time here varies but you'll be comfortable.
Your adventure starts by driving through the city of Puerto Plata. Your English-speaking guide will give you the history of the city as you make your way through the Victorian District. A drive along the Malecon (a coastal road dotted with restaurants and bars) takes you to a nearby village off the main road. The commentary includes an explanation of the daily life in this area.
Arriving at the base camp, you'll have a chance to use the facilities. A safety briefing and orientation get you ready to ride. Helmets, goggles, and bandanas will be provided. These are unique ATVs where the passengers sit side by side rather than one behind the other. There is a maximum of 2 guests per ATV. If you are single (and 18 years or older), you will need to book for 2 spaces. Drivers can switch off driving duties. Your guide will lead you on back roads and tiny villages, through the Dominican countryside and streams, and along a river. A short-stop along the route will give you a chance to refresh in a river "pool". On returning to base camp, after approximately 1.5 hours of riding, you'll return to your start-point where your transport will be waiting for you.
The land portion is followed by the sea portion of your excursion by boarding the air-conditioned transport to Playa Dorada, at your arrival, you will be treated to rum punch. This reef-protected beach is famous for water sports, from kite surfing to banana boat tubing, as well as its restaurants and bars. You'll have approximately an hour to take a swim, soak up some rays on a complimentary lounger ( first-come-first-served ), or buy a beverage or something to eat at the beach restaurant and bar. Once you have enjoyed the thrill of driving the ATV and rest on the beach, you'll make your way back to your Taino Bay cruise ship port at the end of your stay.
