On one amazing day, you will enjoy two highlights of the Campania Region of Italy: Capri Island and the ruins of the ancient city of Pompeii. Experience the beauty and power of nature as you explore this lovely island and infamous volcano. Capri will not be forgotten because of the fashion-forward boutiques, the quaint craftsman shops, and the crystal blue sea to the spectacular colors of the Gardens. In this second part of the excursion, you will discover the social life in the ancient Roman city that laid the foundation for today.
When you order, you can choose what size group you want to join - for the most personal and more one-on-one experience, pick the VIP group option with a maximum of 8 adults per group. There is also the option to join up with a small group of 16 adults maximum or the regular option with 40 adults max.
When you meet with your friendly guide outside your Naples cruise terminal, you will walk to the hydrofoil terminal (a 5-minute walk from the cruise port) to begin your exciting journey across the water to Capri Island. Once you arrive on the "Island side", you will board the Capri Funicular, whisking you up to the Piazzetta, the main square, where you can wander the streets, experiencing the culture. The funicolare or funicular is a type of railcar. A passionate local guide will escort you throughout the morning as you visit the beautiful Garden of Augustus and the Belvedere, to capture the exquisite views of the Gulf of Naples and bountiful botany. You will have free time to continue your browsing and an opportunity to experience the local fair. You might find interesting souvenirs or a little restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch.
When your time at Capri is over, the funicular will return you to the hydrofoil to venture back to Naples. You will embark on a short trip to Pompeii in the comfort of luxurious transportation. You will explore the site for 1.5 hours and discover the secrets of life in this ancient city. Frozen by the Vesuvius eruption of 79 A.D., this ancient city provides opportunities to explore the thermal baths, frescos of Lupanare, bartering in the marketplace, the Macellum, the Basilica, and the House of Faun, one of the largest and most elaborate homes of the period. Note that entrance to the ruins must be paid on-site and is not included in the excursion cost.
After your amazing excursion, you'll come back to your Naples cruise terminal, where you can explore more at your leisure and expense.
