Your stress-free diving shore excursion begins when you arrive at the Dive Center 5 minutes prior to your dive shore excursion departure time. You will be greeted by your certified and English-speaking Dive Master and after completing your registration (Medical Waiver mandatory) you will be ready to enjoy this adventure dive in Grand Cayman.
You will have time to check your equipment and decide if you want to wear a wetsuit (optional, but included in the price of this Grand Cayman SCUBA Dive Shore Excursion). The average water temperature in Grand Cayman goes from 78 to 87 F, with February being the coolest month and August the warmest.
Once on board the dive boat, your shore excursion dive master will go over the dive plan. He will choose the best locations according to ocean and weather conditions. Then it is time to gear up! Typically the first dive is a guided wall dive with opportunities to see spotted eagle rays and sea turtles. This first SCUBA dive will be at a maximum depth of 100 feet.
Once your first tank dive is over and during the surface interval time, you can rehydrate with complimentary fresh fruit and cold bottled water on the boat while the dive shore excursion captain is taking you to the second SCUBA diving location. Of course, you are free to bring your own drinks and/or snacks, except for alcoholic drinks.
The second tank dive of this shore excursion is usually at a shallower reef or shipwreck spot (!). Both offer refuge for all types of Cayman Islands marine life including yellow-tail snapper, Nassau grouper, sergeant majors, and angelfish, all swarming around divers, hoping to get a snack.
Your 2-tank certified dive shore excursion in Grand Cayman will take about 4 hours and 15 minutes and when your dive boat pulls back to the dock, you can simply walk back to your cruise ship terminal or explore the city before getting back on board.
