Worth the money and time. I was not sure if I should book this excursion with any other party other than the cruise itself but in the half the price that the cruise offers it is worth it. Mind it no Cenote is in this tour. We took the free shuttle from cruises port to town where we met the tour guide who will be wearing a green t-shirt. Other people will try to sell you other tours just exit and meet the tour guide who will be wearing green tshirt. Our guide was amazing gave us a lot of history about progresso and mayan ruins. Got about 45 mins of free time at the runis but we started in time from our port. It takes about 1;45 mins to reach the runis and a little extra way back. Even in Feb it was hot.

Visited Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world and was really fantastic visiting this place. The ruins are really awesome and I learned a lot of stuff about the Mayan Culture. The tour is guided by a federally certified guide but it is not boring, but rather fascinating. The most important is that we return to the port with plenty of time before our ship departure. This guys are reliable and definitely know what they do. You cannot beat the price and ease of the tour.

Returning from our 5 days cruise and was really unsure of taking a tour outside of the cruise and afraid of not getting back on time. ShoreExcursioneer makes it all possible and had a really great time with no needed worry at all. First time visiting and was really impressed with the culture and pyramids at Chichen Itza. The guide was very informative and we learned a lot of interesting things about the customs, rituals, culture, etc. as well as the structures at the site. The excursion was really worth it!

Overall, this is a good tour of the ruins. If you're getting off a cruise ship, there will be a stand for Autoprogreso once outside the terminal. You'll then take a bus to a large meeting area where you will meet your tour group to get on another smaller 12 seater van to the ruins. Please note that the buses run every half hour from the port terminal. We were told to meet at 8:30 am outside the terminal and ended up waiting an hour before being shuttled to the meeting place in town. While at the meeting place, there are bathrooms (small fee) and a shop to buy snacks or water. If you have time to kill, there is a small market there where you can buy souvenirs. We made good time to the ruins (1 hr 40 min). Our tour guide (Roman) was very friendly and had lots of information (though a little difficult to understand at times). During the ride, the guide went over a lot of information about the history of the ruins and the Mayan culture. Once you arrive to Chichen Itza you will realize it was well worth the ride. The ruins were massive and well preserved. We spent 2 hours at the ruins: about 45 min with the guide and then on our own for about 1 hr and 15 min. During our time with him, the guide gave a good overview of the structures. We only wished we had more time at the site as there was so much to see. The same van took us to and from so we were able to leave items on the locked shuttle van. Please note that there is no lunch provided with this tour so pack snacks to bring with you as there isn’t time budgeted in the tour to eat at the site. We did stop at a convenience store afterwards where you could purchase hot dogs, sandwiches, chips, or drinks (even alcohol!). Also, there are a ton of vendors selling souvenirs at the site so there is an opportunity to shop for trinkets. Sunscreen, a hat or umbrella are also good ideas for your tour of the site as it can get very hot.

It was a long ride from Progreso to the ruins but everyone aboard was friendly and was a great time to make new friends. Our guide was friendly and cautious. Once you arrive to Chichen Itza you will realize it was well worth the ride. There is so much to see and we took so many great pictures. Altough you cannot climb the structures the visit is totally worth it. You hear about these site on TV but actually being there makes you feel small in comparisson to the great buildings and pyramids. It was an amazing experience and so happy I visited. I will return with my kids next year.

This was the best excursion on my vacations. The guide was soo informative and knowledgeable, on the way to the ruins he narrated all the history of the Mayan population of Yucatan, then he gave us a great explanation about each peculiarity of the structures. The ruins are biggers than I though, and very well conserved. To visit the water hole was amazing!

We loved our tour of Chichen Itza! It was extremely hot and humid so be prepared for that. Our tour guide Manuel was so friendly and very informative of the Mayan culture and the ruins. Our driver got us to the ruins and back to the port safely and on time. A must see if you are visiting Progresso!

We requested Raul as our guide, per other reviews, and made a great choice. He was waitng for us at the bus dropoff point. (You have to take a shuttle bus from the cruise ship to this area. Make sure you get on the shuttle bus that goes to the terminal. Not all shuttle buses go there. He will be waiting at the entrance to the terminal with your name on a placard.) He immediately got us on the road and to the ruins well before the bus tours arrived. We got at least an addtional hour at the ruins, as compared to the cruise line excursions. His knowledge of the ruins is considerably greater than my first visit. Many nuances and items that made the ruins come alive for us. He tailored the speed and content of the ruins tour to our wishes. We chose to exclude the Cenote portion of the tour, in order to get more time at the ruins, and he obliged. Very comprehensive and informative on all aspects of the ruins and life of the Mayans. If you choose to use this service, ask for Raul and keep the tour to five or less. Considerably better than our first experience. (Not this tour service.)

Overall this is a very good tour of the ruins. If you're getting off a cruise ship in Progreso, you'll take a bus to a large meeting area where you will meet your tour group to get on another bus to the ruins. Our tour guide was very friendly and had lots of great information(though a little difficult to understand at times). During the (2 hour) bus ride to the ruins, he went over a lot of information about the history of the ruins and the Mayan culture. You spend about an hour at the ruins where he gives a very good overview of the structures. I only had two critiques about the tour - - After the tour of the ruins, we drove about 15 minutes down the road and stopped at the Ik Kil Cenote (sinkhole - a giant underwater pool). This was a fantastic site to see, but it wasn't included in the description. Two problems with this were that (1) We had to pay an additional entrance fee of 80 pesos (2) We had no idea we needed to bring a swimsuit, so we go to see the pool but couldn't go in, and (3) We stayed there for an hour -- way too much time for just looking at the pool (which takes about 15 minutes). - A lot of people complain about the overwhelming number of vendors at the ruins, but if you actually want to buy some cheesy tourist trinkets, there is no time during the tour other than the 5-ish minutes when you arrive while the tour guide is buying the tickets. You can stop and look at souvenirs during the tour, but then you will miss a part of the tour. Good tour overall, but they need to let customers know about the visit to Ik Kil.

We were really looking forward to seeing some ruins on our trip and we were not disappointed in this tour at all. It was overwhelming getting to see these beautiful ancient grounds. And it's amazing how well everything had been maintained for so long. Thank you to the Mexican government for helping preserve this site - visitors are not allowed to climb them as a measure of preservation. We went in a group and we all voted to come back again. We understand that the ceremony during the equinox is amazing and will try to plan our next trip around that. We want to see the shadow creep down the central pyramid! Yes it is a bit of a long drive but a million times worth it on the comfortable bus.

I have been before and will go again given the chance. Everyone should see these incredible ruins. The property is huge and you can really only see part of them in a day but you will get to enjoy ALOT. Wear comfortable walking shoes and do not forget your camera.
