This is an adventure you don't want to miss! Ride the aerial tram for spectacular views of St. Lucia, hike the rainforest, and learn about the flora and fauna of St. Lucia. Glide over the trees on the Canopy Zip Line Park which has 9 platforms and 8 zip lines.
This thrilling day on St. Lucia will begin when you meet with your guide inside your St. Lucia cruise terminal. You'll be shown comfortable, and air-conditioned transportation for the 30-minute scenic drive to the Castries Waterworks Reserve where your 3 combo activities are located. This area was declared a forest reserve in 1916 and covers an area of 3,442 acres.
Once you arrive, you will be surrounded by a healthy rainforest. In fact, on the 25th of November, 2016, Prince Harry officially designated the Castries and the surrounding rainforest as St. Lucia's contribution to The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy Project. The tram, your first activity, will help you to see the beauty of nature at its finest. Before the tram ride, the staff will give you a safety briefing, get your gear, and go over all of the day's activities.
Step onto the gondola-shaped tram and begin the trip down. Be sure to keep an eye out for the numerous, and colorful, tropical birds. You will be accompanied by a naturalist who will talk about some of the gorgeous flora and fauna during your trip. You'll have approximately 40 minutes to see views that would be impossible if you had merely hiked through the forest. This is really a stunning ride and has been rated as "excellent" by TripAdvisor. Each tram holds a total of 8 guests and one guide, the tallest highest section is 120 ft (36 meters), so be ready to take some amazing photos!
You would arrive then at the Canopy zipline start platform. Once you are all set, it will be time to head up to the first platform.
The way this course works is one of the experienced staff members will hook your harness onto the line and then you will zip along the line to the next platform where another staff member is waiting for you. You will get unhooked and the rest of the group will follow over the same way until all have completed that line and it is on to the next line. This will continue for everyone for 8 zip lines and 9 platforms. The tallest platform is 65 ft (19 meters) and the longest line is 566 ft (172 meters). See views of the rainforest canopy as you let gravity do all the work for you. As you are waiting on a platform, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
At the end of the zipline fun, it will be time to take a 20-minute hike. The naturalist guide will, once again, accompany you and answer questions, or give out information about what you are seeing. The trails are easy, but comfortable walking shoes would still be a good idea. You will absolutely want to bring your camera as well. You'll see some gorgeous sights you'll want to capture and show the folks back home.
At the end of the hike, the tram will take you on the scenic 40-minute tram ride down to the base camp. Once at the base, you'll have a bit of time to relax at the gift shop/cafe, get some refreshments, and then you'll get back on board your transportation back to your St. Lucia cruise ship pier.
Note: You'll also have the option to obtain a locker for your personal belongings. The cost of the locker will be $3.00 USD with a separate deposit of $5.00 USD.
