St. Maarten is a double nationality island that is equally rich in culture as it is in unique natural Caribbean beauty. Your St. Maarten sightseeing cruise excursion begins when you exit your St. Maarten cruise terminal and greet your bilingual shore excursion guide next to your double-decker sightseeing bus. Have a seat on the upper deck for an incredible sightseeing experience or simply stay on the lower deck. Please note that this excursion is not available from Marigot, Saint Martin.

Departing from the Dutch Capital of Philipsburg, you will enjoy the view of riding on an open-top double-decker bus. You will drive past the Great Salt Pond and through the countryside. Continue sightseeing across the hill to the other side of the island, where you will stop at a local Rhum Distillery and hear some pirate stories and free tasting of various flavors of rum.

Back on board the Double Decker, you will pass through St. Maarten's latest infrastructure addition, the Causeway Swing Bridge, where you can spot lovely sailboats or magnificent Mega Yachts on the lagoon, depending on the time of year.

Arriving at Maho Beach, right across from the famous beachside airport, you may watch for airplanes overhead as they are landing. The journey will proceed across the south for views of Simpson Bay Lagoon. The next stop is at the Italian ice cream factory where you will enjoy a free ride on the vintage carousel. Your experience concludes with a tasting at the "Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor" store for a free tasting of Old Amsterdam Gouda Cheese.

Back at Phillipsburg, you can decide to return to your cruise ship terminal or continue enjoying the sights of this capital city of St. Maarten. Colorful shops, modern hotels and some renovated older buildings with their distinctive West Indian ornamentation. You can then either take a taxi back to your ship at your own leisure and cost or walk about 10 minutes back to the Captain Hodge Wharf cruise pier.
