Enjoy snorkeling at two of Cozumel's top stops - El Cielo Starfish Bay and Columbia Reef. Hop aboard the Aqua Dream Catamaran and enjoy snorkeling followed by a beach break at Playa Mia Grand Beach Club.

Playa Mia now has restrictions on sunscreen use in order to help fight the spread of White Band coral syndrome. Use of ANY type of sunscreen, sunblock, and suntan lotion is strictly prohibited. All guests must shower BEFORE entering either the ocean or Playa Mia pools. They suggestion use of long-sleeved UV filtering shirts, hats, and sunglasses. Coral, fish and all other sea creatures thank you for your cooperation!

This adventure begins when you hop on a ferry in Playa del Carmen. You'll enjoy 40 minutes of spectacular scenery as you glide across the waters of the Caribbean. For your comfort, the ferry has facilities and serves drinks and snacks. Consumables are not included in the price. Sit up top and feel the ocean breezes, or sit below with large viewing windows and air conditioning. Your guide will greet you when you arrive and show you to the catamaran.

With a capacity of 80, pick a spot and relax during your ride to the snorkel sites. The catamaran crew will circulate on the deck to pass out cold beverages during the 1-hour sail. When you arrive at the famed Columbia coral reef, the snorkel staff will pass out the snorkel gear and show you how to use it. They will then assist you into the water and lead you on a guided drift snorkel. This means the gentle current will glide you over the reefs and you will not have to use your fins much at all. There is a lot of beautiful marine life to see as you glide over one reef to the other. The snorkel time is about 45 minutes drift snorkel over Colombia Reef.

Then guests will hop back on board and head to the magical, El Cielo or "heaven" in Spanish a 15-minute sail away. This special location is also known as Starfish Bay. This is a shallow white sandy bottom bay only accessible by boat. Starfish of many varieties are scattered along the bottom or "the stars scattered in heaven". Guests may use the snorkel gear to glide over the starfish or relax in the shallow water (on average the water is approximately 3 feet deep). Guests will have approximately 45 minutes to enjoy this special bay that not many guests ever get to see.

At the end of the snorkel part of this Playa Mia Catamaran Shore Excursion, you will be assisted back aboard the boat. The excursion crew will have an open bar ready to refresh you! The captain will then set sail for Playa Mia Beach Club for your beach break. At Playa Mia, you will have about 1.5 hours to enjoy the lunch buffet and all the facilities at the beach club. There is a lot of choose from and do. You will also have an open bar!

At the end of your Cozumel catamaran excursions with beach break, the staff will send you back to your pier via taxi. Guests may also have the option to stay at Playa Mia and return to the cruise ship at their leisure and at own expense. Note the opening hours at Playa Mia Beach Club are 9:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
