    Frequently Asked Questions
Will they cancel the Juneau Helicopter and Dog Sled Extended Excursion in Alaska if it is raining?
The Juneau Helicopter and Dog Sled Extended Excursion operate rain or shine, within safety guidelines. The weather you are experiencing at the cruise pier can be completely different than the weather at the helipad or up on the glacier. Your local guide is in constant contact with the helipad and crew on the glacier.
What type of helicopter will I be flying on?
A Eurocopter Astar 350. On busy days we also supplement the fleet with Bell Jet Rangers.
How many dogs will be pulling my sled?
10 – 12 Alaskan huskies hooked up to a double sled arrangement, which allows for up to 5 passengers per dogsled team.
    Can I request a front-row seat?
Unfortunately, seating is based on balancing the weight of all the guests, and therefore specific seats cannot be requested/promised.
Do I need any special clothing on the glacier?
When the wind blows across the large frozen lake that is a glacier, air temperature definitely goes down. Jackets and gloves are strongly recommended. Shoes need to have low/no heels and traction!
Will I be able to get good pictures of the ice if it is not sunny?
Actually, you will get better photos as the sun causes glare off the ice which can wash out the different colors of the ice in your photos.
Do I need to take my passport with me on the Juneau Glacier Helicopter and Dog Sledding Excursion, Extended to show with my Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket?
No, it is not necessary to take along your passport unless noted by your cruise line or listed in the Restrictions or Notes tab for the excursion. Your local operator has your booking noted. Please arrive with a printed copy of your eticket or digital copy if applicable.

We cruised on the Joy in early August and took this incredible tour. Really amazing experience flying over the glacier, actually walking on it and then spending time at the dog sled camp. An experience of a lifetime. Highly recommended and worth the price!

My husband took us (me and my 6 year old) on a cruise to Alaska, we were on a board of Disney Wonder since my kid is a huge Mickey fan (so am I)... Juneau was one of our ports of call, while checking on the excursions we were hesitating between this one and the Whale watching, couldn't decide what would be better. What we did know is that the price onboard so very expensive compared to the pricing with this company. We then decided that this one would give us a more Alaskan experience and we were completely right!!! I speak for the three of us when I say this was a once in a lifetime experience! Our day started flying over the icefields, memorable views; then the best part: riding a dog sled, my kid was the most excited in our group!! Then we flew to a glacier where we were given snow shoes so we could walk across the glacier. This excursion is totally worth the price, you won't regret booking it.
