Enjoy with us all the sights and sounds that Portugal has to offer during this full-day excursion. Visit the National Monument of the Palace Pena, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore the natural beauty of the surrounding Pena Park. Enjoy cultural eats in the town of Sintra, then head to the town of Cascais, where the nobility of old loved to vacation. Lastly, travel along the coast with gorgeous panoramic views of Estoril and the Casino.
Your adventure will start when you meet your guide at Lisbon Hard Rock Cafe. Relax and enjoy the sights of inland Portugal as you travel 45 minutes to your first stop, Pena Park. Your guide will give a brief explanation of Pena Park and Pena Palace. Then, you will have two hours to explore the areas with your guide and on your own. Winding paths allow you to explore the park, which has over 500 different varieties of trees. Follow the paths up to the top of the rocky peak where you can explore the Palace. Get a bird's eye view of the surrounding countryside from the walls of the Palace.
After the visit, regroup and board your transportation to head to the town of Sintra. Here you will have an hour and a half to see the town and eat lunch (at your own expense). Your guide can recommend a cafe or restaurant. Be sure not to miss your opportunity to taste the local pastries, Travesseiro and Quijada. Next, you will travel to the Westernmost Point of continental Europe, Roca Cape. From there you will head to Cascais passing Guincho Beach.
Once you have arrived in Cascais you will quickly see why King Carlos I proclaimed it as his favorite summer destination. Enjoy the traditional Portuguese charm and 19th-century architecture during your hour-long stop. Then, relax as you travel back towards Lisbon along the coast. You will pass the town of Estoril and have a panoramic view of the Casino. When you have arrived back in Lisbon they will take you back to your original meeting point, where you can take a taxi back to your Lisbon cruise ship pier.
