    Frequently Asked Questions
Will they cancel the Juneau Helicopter Icefield and Dog Sledding Cruise Excursion in Alaska if it is raining?
The Juneau Helicopter Icefield and Dog Sledding Excursion operate rain or shine, within safety guidelines. The weather you are experiencing at the cruise pier can be completely different than the weather at the helipad or up on the glacier. Your local excursion guide is in constant contact with the helipad and crew on the glacier.
What type of helicopter will I be flying on this adventure shore excursion from Juneau?
A Eurocopter Astar 350. On busy days we also supplement the fleet with Bell Jet Rangers.
How many dogs will be pulling my sled?
10 – 12 Alaskan huskies hooked up to a double sled arrangement, which allows for up to 5 passengers per dogsled team.
Can I request a front-row seat on the flightseeing helicopter?
Unfortunately, seating is based on balancing the weight of all the guests, and therefore specific seats cannot be requested/promised.
Do I need any special clothing on the glacier?
When the wind blows across the large frozen lake that is a glacier, air temperature definitely goes down. Jackets and gloves are strongly recommended. Shoes need to have low/no heels and traction!
Will I be able to get good pictures of the ice if it is not sunny?
Actually, you will get better photos as the sun causes glare off the ice which can wash out the different colors of the ice in your photos.
Do I need to take my passport with me on the Juneau Helicopter and Dog Sled Excursion to show with my Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket?
No, it is not necessary to take along your passport unless noted by your cruise line or listed in the Restrictions or Notes tab for the excursion. Your local operator has your booking noted. Please arrive with a printed copy of your eticket or digital copy if applicable.

Just having the time to share my review from last month's journey. We took this excursion in Juneau and was an absolutely incredible experience of a lifetime. Really worth the views and doing the dog sled. My children really enjoyed the experience and we all would recommend this to anyone traveling to Juneau.

This was an excursion we choose to do while on the Disney Wonder earlier this summer. It was exactly as described online. The helicopter ride was really good and we got great views of the glaciers. The dog sled was awesome and the dogs were very friendly. Our family really enjoyed this lovely tour, highly recommended.

Took this excursion last year and absolutely loved it. It's a little pricey but the helicopter ride and the dogs are well worth it. Coming back this May and bringing my son. Can't wait to do this again.

It's a bit pricey but not your everyday experience so well worth it. How often do you get to be on a helicopter admiring the incredible Juneau landscape? The helicopter ride was exciting plus the view is like no other. It is completely safe and you ride it in on the way to the dog camp and back. The helicpter ride was my favorite until we made it to the sled camp. Oh my gosh it was beautiful! I am a HUGE dog lover so being sorrounded by the beautiful huskies and puppies that were being trained. We got to ride the sleds downhill and was so much fun! The trainers are professionals and the dogs love and respect them. We got some awesome pictures with all the dogs and the snow and it was just such a beautiful experience.

This was the most exciting day ever during our vacations in Alaska. The helicopter ride, the dog sleding. Loved the friendly snow dogs and love how they are loved and taken care of. It was our first time doing anything like this so it was well worth it. It was such an amazing experience visiting Juneau

We wanted to do something completely different on our tour vacations and this was it. My family loved it and they were really surprised when we I told them we were going to ride in a helicopter and do some sledding with snow dogs. It was a once in a life time experience. The helicopter ride had my whole familly impressed. We loved how secluded the camp was and the sight is amazing. When we got to the camp our kids cried in excitiment and wanted to know everything about the sport. When they were able to ride the sledds it was a fascinating view and they just wished the ride longer but they could have done it for hours! They enjoyed it very much and talk about it up to this day
