You will start with a 15-minute flight from Belize City to the beautiful island of Ambergris Caye. The excitement starts when you board the plane at the municipal airport, which is only a 5 to 10-minute taxi ride from your Belize tender pier. You will have about 15 minutes to take in the breathtaking view of this paradise from the air - the price of the airline ticket is included.
You will land in the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye Island. There you will be welcomed by the professional SCUBA Diving and snorkel staff. They will be taking you for an absolutely extraordinary and memorable Belize Shark Ray Alley Snorkel and Hol Chan One Tank SCUBA Diving Marine Park Excursion! Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley are a couple of the most well-known sites near Ambergris Caye. Hol Chan has a natural break, or you could say a cut in the reef. You will be amazed at the wide range of tropical fish that you can snorkel with, from the famous Fairy Basslet to gigantic groupers and they are all within arm's reach! The "Cut" in the reef is about 75 feet wide and 30 feet deep.
Large schools of jacks, groupers, and snappers will welcome you to their world starting at only around 5 feet of water. You will then be taken to the "Cut" where the coral formations, sea turtles, and spotted eagle rays astound you. This reserve is where over 160 species of fish call home. Very close to the "Cut", an even more thrilling adventure awaits you with the friendly Nurse Sharks and Southern Stingrays.
Local fishermen made it an everyday practice to clean their catch right there. The fishermen noticed Nurse Sharks and Rays taking advantage of the free daily meal. Word of this soon spread and the area became very popular with divers and snorkelers who come to visit and play with the rays and sharks.
The Hol Chan "Cut" is only 4 miles south of San Pedro Town so the entire excursion is about two and a half hours in duration. These truly extraordinary sites are within the most beautiful barrier reef which makes it perfect if you are a beginner snorkeler or an experienced diver. This is an incredible dive or snorkel excursion that you should not pass up!
If time permits when you are finished with your snorkeling or diving, you can relax and have some lunch. You may also just head back to the airport to catch the hourly flights back to Belize City. Either way, you choose, our reliable staff will make sure that you get back to your ship on time.
If you miss your assigned flight, the airline will notify the dive shop. If the ship was late, you will not need to pay for a ticket for the next flight. Flights are leaving Belize City at 08:30 AM and 09:30 AM local time.
