Snorkel the amazing Hol Chan Marine Reserve, swim with nurse sharks and gentle rays, and have a delicious lunch with beach time at Caye Caulker.

You'll meet your shore excursion guide outside your Belize tender terminal and have a 2-minute short walk to the dock where the boat is. Your guide will then give you your snorkel gear before heading off to the Island of Caye Caulker, about 40 minutes away and the second largest commercial island of Belize.

On your stop here you'll have time to use the restroom, pre-order your lunch (not included), have a briefing on the use of the snorkel gear, and be given important information on the rules and regulations of Hol Chan Marine Reserve. This snorkel and dive site is part of the world's second-largest barrier reef and teeming with marine life. It's a great place to snorkel as it's less crowded with tourists than in other parts of the reef. This reserve covers 18 km² of coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangrove forests. A 10-minute boat ride will get you there and you'll get into your gear before heading off on a guided snorkel adventure.

The snorkel shore excursion groups have no more than 8 snorkelers per guide, so it's great for beginners and experts alike. The reef is rich with over 160 species of fish, about 40 species of corals, 5 types of sponges, 8 algae, 2 sea grasses, 3 types of marine mammals, moray eels, and 3 species of sea turtles. So in other words, there is a lot to see!

Your second snorkel excursion location is Shark Ray Alley. You'll have a 40 to 45-minute snorkel here with harmless southern stingrays and gentle nurse sharks. This is a very shallow area and if you prefer you can stand and not snorkel and still admire and interact with these fantastic creatures.

The next shore excursion stop is on Caye Caulker Island. This long skinny island is divided in two by a narrow channel. The south has Caye Caulker Village where you'll have an hour to have lunch, do some shopping, or hit the beach. Before leaving the island and with time allowing, the guides will take you to hand feed the protected Tarpon, a fish that can grow to over 300 lbs.

At the end of this fantastic day, you'll take your boat again back to your Belize cruise port with time to catch your tender to the ship.

This was a fabulous excursion! Natalie, our guide, and Hulky, boat captain were fantastic. We felt like we did so much in this 5.5 hour excursion and always felt like we were in good hands. They took great care of us and I was never worried if I was going to get back to my ship on time. They really took the time to make sure we had a great time. I would recommend 100 percent and would definately do it again!

Nat, Hulky, and Jr. were phenomenal! Nat was the best guide and made sure we were safe and felt comfortable. The boat ride to Caye Caulker was beautiful and they had fruit and water during the ride. Getting to swim through and see the beautiful coral reef and different sea life, the sting rays and nurse sharks, and feeding the tarpons was the best experience ever! I would go back now if I could. We had a fabulous time on this tour in January. We had a boat full, but they had more than enough guides to accommodate us. They called me "Mama" because I was the oldest by far lol, and they made sure I sat in the back where the ride would be smoother. The reef snorkeling was wonderful with beautiful living coral and fish. The sharks and rays were a blast and lunch on Caye Caulker was relaxing. I recommend this 110%!!!

We ended up having a much larger group than expected (26 total). But they provided 3 people in the water at all times (1 in front, 1 in the middle, and 1 in the rear) to keep track of everyone. The snorkeling at the reef was beautiful and the place we ate at was delicious and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. The sharks and stingrays were absolutely amazing. A nurse shark swam between my daughters legs and stingrays swam all around us. This portion is about chest deep or so. German was able to recall all of our names after introducing ourselves and he was very good about pointing out certain fish and sights. He was also very good about keeping everyone hyped up and entertained on the trip. Watermelon and pineapple snacks available on the boat.

Natalie, Too Tall and the rest of the crew made the trip more than awesome. Sheâ€™s fun and strict (safety and coral reef protection) at the same time. Knowledgeable about the country, animals, climate, everything we may potentially need during the time spent with her. Helped find fish and pony animals under water we may have missed. Dived to show us species easy to miss. Made us feel welcomed all the time! Never lost her patience. Weather wasnâ€™t perfect during our trip but she made sure we had some sun during the snorkeling. My husband and I went on this excursion and to say we were amazed would be an understatement. Nat and "Too Tall" made sure we had an unbelievable time. The boat ride to the location was relaxing and snorkeling and sharks was more then we could have asked for. They both or so knowledgeable of the area and the surroundings. The restaurant where we had lunch was amazing and fair priced and they made sure that you got a chance to see everything you could want.

Words canâ€™t even describe how awesome this was! Nat and two tall aka two chains as we named him were so fun and made the day perfect. Swimming with the sharks and sting rays were amazing but snorkeling the coral reef was off the charts and the water super clear. The best was this excursion was smaller and more intimate versus a large excursion with a packed boat. Highly recommended! We love Belize!

My wife and I loved our snorkeling trip in Belize. The day was easy, with long boat rides and an hour lunch/shop time towards the end of the day. The shark and sting ray viewing was spectacular. I wonâ€™t forget those memories. We were able to stand in the water in this area, then snorkel to get a better view. As a novice with snorkeling, this made my experience much better! We then traveled a few minutes away to see the coral reef, which was beautiful. Again, being a novice snorkeler, I struggled here. My mask wasnâ€™t sealing very well and my snorkel was malfunctioning (probably my fault). It was pretty stressful for me, but each of the guides/workers made sure I was ok the entire time. The experience was still difficult for me, but they made it so much better than it would have been without their help. Lunch was great. I had the grilled lobster with 2 sides for $15, which was wonderful. My wife had the island chicken skewer, which she loved. The sides were all great, but we would have to recommend the coleslaw. Our boat did have mechanical issues on our trip to Caye Caulker. We were stranded for about a half hour, which would have made me a bit uneasy, but the crew was delightful and at ease. They even put up shade for us! Our driverâ€™s dad brought out a new boat, which we all switched to. These things happen and I was impressed with how easily they remedied this issue. My only complaint about the entire trip was the tours were supposed to be limited to 8. We had 15 - 9 adults and 5 children, which made things a little bit more difficult. It didnâ€™t really cause any major issues. Overall, it was well worth the money. I always enjoy having a local that knows everything about the area guide us. The entire crew was top notch. They were informative, friendly, and very funny. Iâ€™m not easy to please, but I was very pleased on our trip. Would definitely recommend!

They fed the sharks which started them on an eating frenzy. The sharks mellowed out and swimming around them was not a problem. Stingrays were also in abundance. Beautiful reefs. Felt very comfortable in the water for being a non swimmer. Nat and crew were great. Took us to a little bar/restaurant to preorder lunch, fresh lobster was good.

My girls had a blast. Nick, Nelson and Too Tall were the best hosts anyone could ask for. Nickâ€™s sister was on the trip as well. She was the same age as my girls. We enjoyed talking to her and Nick about the culture and schools of Belize. Very nice family owned business. Canâ€™t wait for our next cruise. We will return to Belize and do the snorkeling again.
