City Sightseeing Bus Tour runs in Spring and Summer only when the cruise ships are in port and it is designed to get you around the best of Oslo. There are 11 different stops and one close to the cruise ship terminal in Oslo. You can choose to stay on for the full loop or get off the bus at any of the stops. The full route takes approximately 90 minutes and the buses run every 30 minutes from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
When you board the bus, you can listen to the commentary available in 7 different languages on the provided headsets. You can learn about the highlights and sights as you pass by. Visit The Viking Ship Museum. It is most famous for the Oseberg ship, excavated from the largest known ship burial in the world. The ship was made by skilled 13th-century craftsmen who learned about Viking life. Soak up with culture and architecture at the Nobel Peace Center, the Stenersen Museum, and the Oslo City Hall. See the Oslo Opera House which is home to The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet and get to the top floor to get an astonishing view of the Barcode Buildings. From there, you can also take the tram to Ekeberg Sculpture Park to take a stroll while enjoying the 31 sculptures scattered around the park.
Hop off at the Ibsen Museum, which is dedicated to the 19th-century Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet Henrik Ibsen. The museum is partly Ibsen's refurbished apartment where he lived in his later life until he died in 1906, and part exhibition space showcasing displays relating to his work. The Royal Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century as the Norwegian residence of Norwegian and Swedish King Charles III and is the official residence of the present Norwegian Monarch. Watch the changing of the guard and enjoy the surrounding parkland, which is open to all. Hop back on and head towards Akershus Slott (Akershus Castle) to learn of the fortified fort's history, enjoy stunning views from the top of the fortress, and meander through the beautiful grounds.
Enjoy the Fram and Norwegian Maritime Museum and its exhibits on coast culture and maritime history including boat models, fishing, marine archaeology, marine paintings, shipbuilding, and shipping. Hop back on up to the Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to a vast collection of sculptures. For opera lovers out there, this one is for you! The Oslo Opera House offers open-air concerts as well as fantastic views of the city if you climb its sloping rooftop! Fans of architecture will also enjoy admiring trendy Aker Brygge, a shopping center that was once a shipyard. Note that the entrance fees to the attractions are not included.
