Geiranger is a small, picturesque village that offers breath-taking views and S-shaped waterfalls. If you're looking for a relaxing trip then you're going to the right place. Right outside your cruise ship terminal is the first bus stop. There are a total of 4 stops that cover all of Geiranger's treasures. If you just want to stay on board and take in the sites and scenery, the full loop will take about 60 minutes. For those who want to hop off the bus and see more of the amazing views and sites, buses run every 30 minutes so just hop back on the next bus around. You may book up to 3 months prior to your excursion date.
When guests get on the bus, headsets are provided so you can listen to the commentary that is available in 8 languages. Want to learn more about Norwegian history? Visit the Norwegian Fjord Centre where you can get information about the Geirangerfjorden World Heritage Site. You will learn about the unique and rich history, the colorful people and the fabulous natural scenery of the area. The multi-media show "Fra fjell til fjord" ("From Mountains to Fjord") shows this World Heritage Site throughout the four seasons. It features a collection of magnificent images of the landscape, from high mountains to the fjord, accompanied by a specially-composed musical soundtrack. There is also a visitors center where you can discover everything you need to know about Geiranger's heritage and stop for a coffee at their cafe afterward!
The next stop is Westeras Farm. The farm is perched on the edge of the mountainside. Surrounded by mountains and valleys that offer views for miles, you'll feel very peaceful. There is an onsite restaurant located in the barn built in 1603. You can buy a snack or beverage and hike to see the spectacular falls, Storseterfossen Waterfall that you can even walk behind.
No trip to Geiranger is complete without a trip to the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint. Enjoy the fresh air and the wind in your hair as we whisk you away to one of Geiranger's treasures. Take in the breath-taking view of the green mountains and the blue waters. You can see the entire fjord, city and your cruise ship below. There is a 15-minute photo stop at each point along the route. Entrance fees are not included.
