You will meet your private driver and guide just outside your Kotor cruise terminal. Your private transportation will take you up to the mountain lookout spot just outside of Kotor. The 30-minute panoramic drive to the top would offer a magnificent view of the Bay of Kotor below. You will have a 20-minute photo stop; have your camera ready so you don't miss out on capturing the landscape and incredible beauty. On the slopes of Lovcen mountain at an altitude of 3,600 ft (1,111m), is the village of Njegusi. The village is best known as the birthplace of Montenegro's royal dynasty of Petrovic but also because of its smoked ham, cheeses, and honey. You can make an optional stop to buy some of these local and delicious products to snack on along the way.
As you leave the farmland and continue on the road from Njegusi, you will find yourself on the other side of the slopes of Lovcen where you will notice a dramatic change in the natural scenery. The ice eroded rocky limestone called karst is the landscape around the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro, Cetinje. The town dates back to the 15th century when Ivan Crnojevic, the ruler of the Medieval Zeta, was forced by the desire of conquering the Turks to move the capital of his country from the fortified town of Zabljak to more inaccessible parts. The court of Cetinje was built in 1482 and its famous monastery was built 2 years later. You will enjoy a one hour guided walk through the central square of Cetinje where you will see the exterior of the Royal Palace.
Continuing west, you will head back towards the coast and then up to the Riviera of Montenegro. As you descend from the mountains, you will see Budva, the very well known hub of Montenegrin tourism. Not only is Budva full of natural beauty it is also rich in history. As one of the oldest cities in the Adriatic Sea, its history reaches back to 2500 years ago. You will have a walk with your guide of the Old Town and its beautiful waterfront full of cafes and restaurants.
At the end of your adventure, you will have enjoyed much of the history and beauty of Montenegro's gem cities. Your private driver will take you back to your Kotor cruise port which is across the street from Old Town.
