This is a great way to get out and see Jamaica with a nice combination of sightseeing around Ocho Rios, a visit to a working fruit plantation, shopping, and a memorable climb up Dunns River Falls.

The friendly, English-speaking guides will meet you just outside your cruise ship pier in Ocho Rios. You will get checked in, and on board the air-conditioned transportation and the fun day begins. You will get lots of information from your excursion guide as you head to your first stop at Prospect Plantation.

When you arrive at Prospect, you will be taking a short drive of the estate on a tractor-drawn jitney (hayride). The guide will point out the different crops growing like sugarcane, bananas, pineapples, coffee, papaya, and more. This is an educational as well as an entertaining excursion.

During your tour around the plantation, you will be offered various samples of fruit. You will also be given the opportunity to see the famous "Farmer Brown" climb a 35ft coconut tree barefoot to cut down coconuts. You can try the fresh coconut water and taste the "meat".

There is much to see at Prospect including the gardens, the Great House filled with antiques, panoramic views of the Caribbean, the butterfly house, and more.

Your next stop on this shore excursion will be shopping where you may also purchase a traditional Jamaican "Jerk" lunch (the typical plate is $12.00usd and not included). Special spices are used to give the chicken and pork a unique Jamaican taste. You will also stop shopping at the Soni's Plaza and the Taj Mahal Complex to search for bargains and souvenir deals. There is also a traditional crafts market with handmade items.

Then you will be off to see the famous Dunns River Falls! Experienced falls climbing shore excursion guides will go over all the techniques and safety tips with your group before having you join hands and make a human chain as he leads you up the falls.

You can stop along the way to take in the view and enjoy a fall's created "massage" as the water pours over the rocks onto your shoulders. Guests also have the option to just relax in one of the river pools at the bottom and watch. There are some small shops to browse and make purchases of crafts and straw souvenirs.

After your Ocho Rios shore excursion adventure, the transportation will take you back to the cruise ship pier area.
