From nature lovers to photographers, this is the perfect waterfall excursion with a nature hike and swim in a waterfall-filled pool. Afterward, enjoy a bit of free time to browse a gift shop, or sip a cool beverage and get a bite to eat. Slower-paced, educational, and lots of photo opportunities.
Your eco-adventure Puerto Plata cruise shore excursion begins when you are greeted by your English-speaking guide at your Taino Bay Cruise Center's main gate in Puerta Plata. You will be escorted to your air-conditioned van, or mini-bus, to enjoy a fully narrated drive to the starting point for your waterfall hike through a Dominican forest.
Once you've arrived at the Waterfall Hike Welcome Center, you are free to use the facilities and then will receive an orientation and safety briefing on your adventure ahead. Be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes (no flip-flops or dress sandals are permitted) and don't forget those cameras or cell phones!
Then you're off on your 45-minute guided nature walk where you will cross streams, climb gentle paths, and all this while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the unique Caribbean rainforest environment. Keep an eye out for the multitude of tropical birds and plants you may see along the way. Your guide will be available to answer general questions you might have about the region and photo opportunities will be plentiful.
You will be visiting the locally known Charco Grande Waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the clear cool waters of the pool provided by nature herself. Picture yourself taking a gentle swim while you are lulled by the sounds of cascading waters. Or just sit beside and dip your toes in. Take those photos of a lifetime while you marvel at the beauty that surrounds you.

Next, you can take the easy hike back to the Waterfall Hike Welcome Center where you will have a bit of free time. This is when you may choose to browse the center's gift shop, purchase a refreshing beverage or snack, or just sit back and relax.
After your time at the waterfall is over, you will hop aboard your Shore Excursion vehicle for the return trip to your Taino Bay Puerto Plata cruise ship terminal.
