Head up the northside beach trails on your single or double-riding ATV, which few visitors have had the pleasure of seeing. Your Cozumel adventure shore excursion day will start when you gather at the meeting point located just a 3 to 5-minute walk from your Cozumel cruise ship terminal. Then hop onboard your air-conditioned vehicle and you will be guided to the ATV shore excursion camp approximately a 15-20 minute scenic drive to Mezcalitos Beach on the east side of Cozumel, also known as Cozumel's Wild Side! Please consider you will be driving a car following the guide. There are no resorts here, just a few island beach bars dotted here and there along miles of gorgeous undeveloped beaches alongside the vivid blue Caribbean sea.
Once you have arrived at the ATV excursion base camp, your experienced guide will go over instructions and any safety tips for driving on the sandy trails. This is a great adventure cruise excursion for beginners, your ATV guide will show you how to drive! You will be given your helmet and matched with your semi-automatic 250cc Honda and you are off for some thrilling exploration of the sandy trails meshed between the thick jungle and the Caribbean Sea. No worries, this is a guided all-terrain vehicle excursion so you won't miss a thing. Do be prepared to get a little sandy/dirty, but that just means you have had lots of fun! You have the choice if you want to ride solo or double (check the shopping cart below for options and pricing). Kids from 7 to 17 years old can ride along with an adult.
This is a 2-hour ATV riding adventure! Your Cozumel shore excursion guide will lead you across sandy beaches and fun-filled trails all while heading to the Xpalbarco Mayan ruin that you will visit. This area of the island is only accessible to very few as it is strictly a 4-wheel off-road drive area so you are really away from the cruise ship crowds! When you arrive at the unique Mayan ruin there will be a short break to enjoy a cold bottle of water and relax while the ATV excursion guide gives you some background information about the Mayan culture, how significant these ruins were to their civilization, and learn why Cozumel was once a pilgrimage stop for all Mayan women. The goddess of fertility was believed to grant her powers to those who came to Cozumel and the women would paddle across the sea to visit and worship at least once in their lifetime.
Then your group will follow the ATV guide back down the trails to the world-famous Mezcalitos Beach Restaurant. Enjoy the lovely views of the water at this rustic and charming landmark beachside restaurant. Once your ATV adventure comes to an end, you will return to Playa Uvas Beach Club for your snorkel experience! You will have the option to purchase beer, tropical cocktails, and more from the restaurant's bar as well as other items off the menu at your own expense (If you didn't include lunch). You will have 30-40 minutes to explore underwater and marvel at the beautiful marine life of the island!
At the end of this Cozumel Wild Side ATV and Virgin Beaches Excursion, single riders have the option to enjoy a delicious lunch at Playa Uvas Beach Club or just return to your Cozumel cruise ship pier with the guides in the transportation, or choose to stay at Playa Uvas as long as you wish and simply take a taxi back to your ship at your own cost and convenience. (Please note double riders already have the lunch included)
